"There was a time when each one made a work of art at the same time as a useful thing and out of this uniting burst a spontaneous joy!" William Morris

I love to use felted wool knitting as it has such a warm and soft texture, as well as being strong and sculptural. I incorporate shot silks, brocades, hand-dyed cottons, hand-made Czech glass beads and variegated silky threads. I am often drawn to organic imagery, leafy shapes, vibrant petal colours or flowing lines. My yoga and meditation practice help me to approach the design process in a calm and intuitive way, leaving space for creativity and the occasional surprise. My teaching and training career has taken me to many countries and I am always interested in the creative traditions, especially textiles, of other cultures. These are often reflected in my work.

What greater joy is there, than sharing ideas with others and inspiring them to express themselves creatively? Come and join one of my Creative Days and give your creativity some breathing place. Revitalise your creative self and explore your own design ideas. My teaching approach is supportive and collaborative, encouraging the sharing of ideas and experience. My Creative Days offer a catalyst for you to explore your own creativity and gain confidence. There will be input for inspiration, and demonstrations of techniques as necessary. There are opportunities for you to reflect on yourself as a creative being and express yourself in textiles, together with the occasional outburst of spontaneous joy!

Friday 10th June: Turn Your Wardrobe Wallflowers into Morning Glories

Revitalise your neglected clothes into glorious garments that express your individuality and creativity. We all have "wardrobe wall-flowers" in our cupboards that hardly ever come out. Why not transform them into "morning glories" you can't wait to put on, by using your own creative touches. We will look at a range of techniques to add character and quirkiness where needed...come and join the fun!

You will need a "wardrobe wall-flower", basic sewing skills and some imagination!
Please note: this is not a workshop in tailoring, major altering or repairing of clothes.
